A versatile musician originally from London, England, Danielle Schwob came to concert composition from an unconventional background of songwriting, jazz guitar and improvisation. Interested in composing and performing music from a variety of different genres, she hopes to fine creative ways to combine concert music with non-classical idioms. Described as “satisfyingly dark” (Sequenza21), “truly terrific” (WRIU 90.3FM) and an “emotional exorcism” (SonicScoop), her music has been performed and broadcast internationally, earning her multiple awards. As the director of the Syzygy New Music Collective, hailed as “one of 2009’s most promising new groups,” (Sequenza21), she also plays an active role in commissioning and curating the works of young composers. She has also won awards for her critical writing, and is currently a Masters student at The Manhattan School of Music.
